YICT increases exporters’ TEU reservation quota

From: Shenzhen Daily | Updated:2022-09-27

Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) has increased its reservation quota for laden containers entering the Yantian port area to 14,000 units a day between tomorrow and Friday in a move to handle the surge of exports before the National Day holiday.

Until Friday, the port operator will also extend the reservation period for export of laden containers within ETB-7 (within 7 days before the expected berthing dates of the vessel) to ETB-10 for freight forwarding companies and cargo owners to export their commodities, a release from YICT showed yesterday.

The quota increase and time extension for ETB reservations will increase the container yard’s inventory. In addition, to increase the turnover, YICT will optimize its yard’s capacity, make full use of nearby facilities like railway yards, inland port yards and combined ports connected with Yantian Port via the Pingyan railway. The combined railway and port service enables exporters to enjoy convenient, low-cost and good-quality supply chain services.

Data from Shenzhen Customs showed that Shenzhen Port had handled nearly 13.7 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in the first half of the year, up 6.4% year on year.

As one of the busiest container ports in the world, YICT has recently completed upgrading its berths, which can simultaneously accommodate and handle six mega container vessels weighing over 200,000 metric tons.
