On Dec. 17, the 2022 Ballroom Dance (Sports Dance) National Open Competition and the 2022 Ballroom Dance Outstanding Performances were held at the Yantian Sports Center, gathering more than 600 ballroom dance enthusiasts from all over the country who presented a dazzling dance feast to the audience.

Entering its fifth annual edition in Yantian, the competition was organized by the Shenzhen Yantian District Sports Dance (Ballroom Dance) Association, undertaken by Shenzhen Luanjiang International Dance Education Institution Ltd., and guided by the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Yantian District. The competition was divided into different groups including professional, professional college, general college and amateur youth and staged 10 genres of dances including waltz, tango, rumba and cowboy dance.

According to the organizer, the competition represented a high level of this year’s sports dance events in Guangdong Province and even the whole country. The tournament attracted competitors from Beijing, Hunan Province, Jiangxi Province, Fujian Province, and other parts of the country. The organizer also introduced the youngest contestant who was only 3 years old, and the eldest over 50 and the performances were judged according to the rhythm of the music, cooperation tacit and dance techniques.

This national sports event brand has greatly promoted Yantian’s development in integrating sports and tourism industries. In recent years, Yantian has strived to build comprehensive sports dance events to provide dance lovers with platforms to communicate and show their talents as well as to enrich residents’ spiritual lives.
