Themed “Back to the Original,” the Simple Life Festival attracted a large number of music lovers over the weekend to the picturesque Enshang Wetland Park on Wutong Mountain, Yantian District.

The music festival featured a line-up of pop, rap and balladeer musicians and bands. The headline acts included rock musician Chang Chen-yue (also known as Ayal Komod), singer-songwriters Zhao Lei and Liu Shuang, and the rock band Life Journey.

In the two-day event, Zhao offered his first Shenzhen music festival live show. Taiwanese singer LÜCY made her debut on the Chinese mainland. The stage also offered other young and emerging individuals and bands opportunities to share their voices.

“I was touched by the vitality at the scene with a lot of young people. This is the vibe of Shenzhen, young and vigorous,” an audience member said.

In addition to the performances, the festival also included food, creative market stalls and camping, helping visitors immerse themselves in the beauty of the ecological park.

Embraced by mountains in the distance, visitors embarked on their refreshing musical trip in the natural oxygen bar, reveling in music amid the mild spring day breeze.

“To live green is the core idea of the Simple Life Festival. I hope there will be more cultural events like this festival where people can take a stroll, take green traffic and live a simple life close to nature here in Shenzhen,” said Jia Minshu, chief creator of the festival.

The festival blends music with creative lifestyles, allowing the audience to experience the spectacular scenery and culture of Yantian. “It injects vitality into a swath of industries such as catering and lodging in the area, boosting consumption and integrating the innovative development of music and city tourism,” said Song Chunlin, an official from the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Yantian District.

Song added that by showcasing the diversified natural and cultural resources, the music event further polishes the image of Yantian District as a tourist destination.

Established in 2006, the Simple Life Festival moves around to different cities every other year and has become a solid favorite for festival lovers, as a “relaxed lifestyle” is one of the key concepts of this cultural festival.
