Recently, a group of youths from Shenzhen and Hong Kong attending the 17th Yantian “I Love China” Student Camp paid a visit to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. They spent a wonderful five-day visit together appreciating the magnificent scenery and traditional culture.

With the aim of strengthening moral and patriotic sentiment among campers, the summer camp has developed into a major educational brand in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

During their visit, the teachers and students visited places of interest like beautiful Guilin mountain and river scenery viewing sites, the Longji Terrace, and the Red Army’s Martyrs Monument Park. They also participated in teamwork activities and threw themed parties, during which the sense of friendship between students was greatly enhanced.

Chen Weibin from Yantian District in Shenzhen said he learned more about education in Hong Kong through the activities and realized that the younger generation should strive to make contributions to China.

Lin Ziying, a student from Hong Kong, said the musical Impression Liu Sanjie impressed her the most. The performance includes seven chapters, each showing the beauty of the folk songs and love story of Liu Sanjie.

Another student named Qiu Yuliang emphasized the significance of patriotic education and learning traditional Chinese culture for Hong Kong students.

Into its 17th edition, the summer camp has received more than 2,300 students. It serves as a window for students to know more about China and help them to grow together. Over the past 17 years, the summer camp has taken participants to renowned historical and cultural cities as well as grand events like the Expo 2010 in Shanghai and the Universiade Shenzhen 2011.

The Yantian District Committee will make good use of this important platform and organize more activities in which students from Shenzhen and Hong Kong can interact, helping Hong Kong youths to learn more about their country and how to make contributions to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
