The Yantian District Government held a plenary meeting July 17 to mobilize all the government departments to get prepared and help Shenzhen fight the decisive battle in winning the title of National Cultivated City for the sixth consecutive time. The meeting was attended by Chen Qing, secretary of the Yantian District Committee of the CPC, and Deng Feibo, deputy Party chief and acting head of the district.

At the mobilization meeting, Dong Xiu, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yantian District Committee and head of the Publicity Department, briefed the attendees on the latest progress in Yantian’s efforts of promoting cultural and ethical work. Dong said that since the beginning of this year all the departments of Yantian have been working together to push forward its cultural goals. A dual leadership mechanism led by the Party chief and district head has been formed. Additionally, third-party social institutions have been hired as supervisors to provide consistent oversight, and residents are also encouraged to take photos of problems they find and share online so as to push the government to do a better job. According to the report, Yantian residents have been actively participating in activities organized by the district that promote modernized construction. For example, this year’s tolling event on the “Chung Ying Street 3.18 Awareness Day” was moved to an online platform and attracted 360,000 times of participation. Volunteers in Yantian have organized 1,000 or so services for pandemic prevention and control, which involved 12,000 or so people.

Every subdistrict and unit was urged to be well prepared for final inspections. Follow-up measures should be earnestly implemented: Clarifying the division of tasks such as field inspection and surveys; conducting rounds of inspections by main leaders to solve problems when discovered; identifying problems and faults and making targeted improvements; organizing a thorough check for weaknesses; and creating a wave of educational activities to raise public awareness of the projects.

Chen stressed that like the urban management department and the market supervision department, subdistrict offices and communities should keep an eye on problems that may arise in urban villages, trade markets and back-alleys and assist with creating targeted measures and policies to solve these problems.
