Fire police officers saved a 12-year-old boy who had been trapped on a cliff at Hudie Valley in Wutong Mountain, DT News reported.

At about 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Shenzhen fire police received a call for help. Afterward, Luohu District fire and rescue team immediately sent three fire trucks and 19 officers to rescue the boy.

The boy was said to have gotten lost with his father at the top of Wutong Mountain and then accidentally fell into a nearly 300-meter-deep cliff.

After searching for roughly an hour and a half, fire personnel finally located the boy. For about 50 minutes, the rescue team successfully used specialized equipment to transport the boy to safety.

Fire rescue personnel brought the boy back to the foot of the mountain after walking through about 5.5 kilometers of mountain trails. Fortunately, the boy only suffered from bruises on his hands and mouth, according to the report. The rescue lasted for five hours.

The boy’s parents appreciated the rescue team’s help, and the local fire department reminded visitors to avoid entering forbidden areas and to take better care of children when climbing mountains.
