On March 18, the day when Yantian District resumed normal operations, a local resident surnamed Yao and her friends went to Yantian River Corridor Park in Yantian Subdistrict to appreciate the blooming Golden Bell Trees.

They used the fallen petals of the yellow flowers to arrange the Chinese characters “深圳加油” (“Shenzhen Jiayou,” meaning in English “stay strong, Shenzhen”), which touched the hearts of many walking by.

Yao said that she wanted to use this way to cheer up frontline workers including medical staff and volunteers as they had been on duty in shifts around the clock since the recent COVID wave. “I have been in Yantian for more than ten years. I like the environment here, so every day I take a walk outside. Today I happened to see the fallen petals on the lawn, so I thought that I can use this way to encourage everyone to work together to tide over the difficulties,” she said.
