Yantian District Government and SZU signs agreement to jointly build Shenzhen International Maritime Research Institute

On June 23, the Yantian District People’s Government and Shenzhen University signed an agreement to jointly build the Shenzhen International Maritime Research Institute, sznews.com reported.

As another major initiative of Yantian District to build itself into a core area of the global maritime center city, the Shenzhen International Maritime Research Institute after its inauguration will become a world-leading, domestic first-class research institution and a high-end think tank, providing strong talent guarantee and intellectual support for the construction of Shenzhen as a global maritime center city.

Those attending the signing ceremony included Li Qingquan, Party chief of the CPC Shenzhen University Committee and academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Deng Feibo, deputy secretary of the CPC Yantian District Committee and head of Yantian District, and other leaders.

Li and Deng presented the appointment letter and commemorative trophy to Chen Jihong, the first president of the Institute.

At the beginning of this year, Yantian District officially released the “Implementation Plan (2022-2025) of Building Yantian District Into a Core Area of the Global Maritime Center City,” which clearly proposed the establishment of the Shenzhen International Maritime Research Institute with the aim of pushing forward innovation in international maritime academic research, government, industry, academia and research cooperation in international maritime studies, promoting international cooperation integration in international maritime research and applications, and creating a government think tank in the field of international maritime expertise.

According to the cooperation agreement, the Shenzhen International Maritime Research Institute, after its inauguration, will be located in Yantian and develop into a government think tank in the field of international maritime expertise in Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, a research and consulting service platform for the development of China’s international maritime and port and shipping industries, and a collaborative innovation center for global international maritime academic research and scientific and technological development.
