Population and Ethnic Groups

Yantian District reported a permanent population of 216,900 at the end of 2024, an increase of 4,500 from a year earlier. Of that total, 106,100 (48.9%) are registered residents with local hukou, while 110,800 (51.1%) are non-hukou residents.

Since its establishment as an administrative district, Yantian has also grown increasingly ethnically diverse. Official figures show the district is now home to 37 ethnic groups, including Han, Mongol, Hui, Tibetan, Uyghur, Miao, Yi, Zhuang, Korean and others.
