1. Wang Weizhong, Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, chaired the meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and the Municipal Leading Group on Prevention and Control of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia.
At the meeting, Wang Weizhong stressed that the risks and challenges brought by the travel rush back to Shenzhen and the resumption of enterprise operation and production shall be properly handled, and that operation and production resumption should be carried out in an orderly manner under the premise of taking proper preventive and control measures. 2. Shenzhen will offer free nucleic acid testing to all residents under home quarantine.
Starting from Feb. 12, residents under home quarantine in all districts across the city will be offered free nucleic acid testing for NCP. Medical workers will visit the homes of residents who came back to Shenzhen from Wuhan or other cities in Hubei Province within the previous 14 days and those who are under home quarantine for other reasons. The task aims to find out potential patients of NCP as soon as possible to curb of the transmission of the epidemic in local communities. 3. Shenzhen’s temperature may drop below 10℃ amid upcoming rainstorms. Citizens are advised to avoid outdoor activities as such weather may facilitate the spread of virus.
According to Meteorological Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the heaviest rainfall in the city since Oct 16, 2019 is expected to occur from Feb. 13 to 14. Light or medium rain combined with strong convection such as thunderstorm is expected on Feb. 15 and the morning of Feb. 16. Low temperature is expected to last from Feb. 16 to 19 due to the impacts of a strong cold front. 4. Shenzhen’s sister cities donate medical supplies to support the city’s fight against NCP.
By Feb. 12, Shenzhen’s sister cities had donated 71,300 medical masks, 500 protective suits, 2,600 goggles and 13,000 medical gloves to the city. Of the donations, 10,000 face masks are from Tsukuba, Japan, 500 protective suits and 20,000 KN94 masks from Gwangyang, Republic of Korea, 10,000 KF94 masks and 2,100 goggles from Incheon, Republic of Korea, 10,000 masks, 500 goggles and 3,000 medical gloves from Busan, Republic of Korea, 20,000 masks from Yvelines, France, and 1,300 masks and 10,000 medical gloves from Charlotte, US. 【Source: Foreign Affairs Office of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government】
5. Shenzhen’s hi-tech industry in the city’s fight against the epidemic: intelligent wristbands for screening, robots for food delivery and drones for disinfection.
Technologies such as AI, big data and cloud computing are applied in Shenzhen’s fight against the NCP, offering more effective and intelligent measures of epidemic prevention and control. The AI system can automatically collect relevant information of residents entering and exiting a residence and know whether they are under home quarantine by simply scanning their ID cards. Robots are used to deliver food, medicine and other supplies. A small road sweeper in tandem with an electric street washer with only two drivers can finish the work of five sanitation workers, which improves the work efficiency by 50% and delivers better performance at the same time. 【Source: Shenzhen Release】
