On the morning of October 31, the Yantian District People’s Government and Shenzhen BGI Technology Co. Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to further deepen their strategic cooperation relationship and help Yantian to quicken its steps to build itself into a hub for the life health industry.

To achieve the goals, the two sides will give full play to Yantian’s location resources, business environment advantages and its resources and capabilities regarding talents, scientific research and platforms.

According to the agreement, the two sides will focus on high-end medical apparatus, marine biomedicine and other modern industries in a bid to jointly build a national marine technology innovation center, a synthetic biology innovation center and to create a biomedical industry investment fund. Additionally, the two sides will build a base for urgently needed high-caliber talents. With a focus on biological diversity research and development of advanced agriculture technology, they will work together to build a talent base for life health talents, a hub of scientific and technological innovation and a hub of industrial development in eastern Shenzhen, and cultivate and develop a life and health industry cluster valued at 10 billion yuan.

At the signing ceremony, Deng Feibo, head of Yantian District and deputy secretary of the CPC Yantian District Committee, and BGI Group’s Chairman Wang Jian inaugurated the Future Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration and Popular Science Education Base of Yantian District.
