From: Shenzhen Daily | Updated:2024-05-01

The highly-anticipated Xiaomeisha resort and Shenzhen MGM Hotel in Yantian District started trial operations today, marking a highlight of the district’s golden coastal tourism carnival, which began with a cultural and tourism promotional event at the resort yesterday.

“A brand-new sea world is set to open this summer in the Xiaomeisha area,” announced Li Sida, deputy director of the district’s bureau of culture, media, tourism, and sports, before yesterday’s event. He noted that beyond offering a superb seaside resort, the area will host more international water sports competitions and beach music festivals, provide diverse aquatic recreations, and create an ideal coastal setting for wedding ceremonies. “Xiaomeisha is being transformed into an international coastal destination,” he added.

Li Lin, executive deputy general manager of Shenzhen SDG Xiaomeisha Investment Development Co. Ltd., outlined the refurbishment schedule: “The renovation of the Xiaomeisha area is expected to be completed by 2025. At that time, the Diaoyutai Boutique Hotel Shenzhen and MX by MGM Shenzhen will also open here, joining the Shenzhen MGM Hotel as the first hotel cluster operated by Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality in Guangdong Province.”

The carnival features a variety of engaging activities for tourists, including a kite exhibition along the seaside, aquatic performances, and art installations. Yantian District has also introduced three new tourism routes, and shoppers can find substantial discounts at ONE MALL and Dameisha Outlets.

Due to ongoing construction in parts of the resort, a capacity limit on daily visitors has been implemented. Tourists must book visits online at least one day in advance via Xiaomeisha’s official miniprogram before visiting.

Additionally, from April 4 to May 5, no private vehicles are allowed into the area, as all roads within the area are under inspection. Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation to reach the area.
