More than 50 delegations participating in Yantian’s Fitness-for-All sports competition

The 5th Yantian Fitness-for-All Sports Competition kicked off at Yantian Sports Center on April 18 with more than 50 delegations from governmental departments, enterprises, and schools, among others, participating.

The sports competition, hosted by the Yantian District Government and organized by the district’s culture, media, tourism, and sports bureau, as well as the education bureau, will continue for six months through October. The event has been categorized into adult and youth groups, featuring 24 large-scale competitions and 512 small-size contests.

Over the past five years, Yantian has capitalized on its abundant natural scenery to create a perfect outdoor sports environment for its residents. According to the data, the per capita sports venue area in Yantian District has reached 5.7 square meters, an increase of 137% compared to 2019, ranking second in the city. A total of 244 venues from 53 sports stadiums in the district have been integrated into the "i Shenzhen" reservation platform, with a cumulative distribution of sports consumption vouchers totaling 1.88 million yuan and a total number of reservations for exercise reaching 684,000 people. More than a hundred sports events are held annually, providing residents with a "grand stage" for nationwide physical activities. The proportion of residents regularly participating in sports exercises in the jurisdiction has reached 43.3%, an increase of 16.6%, and the pass rate for resident physical examinations is over 93%.

In terms of competitive sports, Yantian District has strengthened the integration of sports and education. To date, a total of 26 sports projects and 36 representative teams have been formed, with nearly 6,000 registered athletes. Youth rowing, sailing (windsurfing), and other projects are leading in the city. A group of outstanding athletes from Yantian, such as Dai Dawei, Su Xuyang, and Zhong Xinyan, have achieved excellent results in events such as the National Games and National Championships. Locally trained athletes have secured remarkable results of 347 gold medals, 322 silver medals, and 321 bronze medals in various international and domestic competitions. At the same time, Yantian District's sports industry is thriving. It has successfully hosted high-level international and domestic events such as the Shenzhen Yantian Mountain-Sea Half Marathon Race, World Cup Universal Open Dance Championship, 2023 iQFOiL and iQFOiL Youth & Junior Asian Championships, and the China Ironman Triathlon League Finals (Shenzhen Yantian).
