In an effort to preserve traditional Danjia culinary heritage, the time-honored Yantian eatery Demi Steamed Vermicelli Rolls recently hosted a special cultural event for local students to learn the art of making traditional shrimp cakes.
During the workshop, shop owner Chen Guodong demonstrated the entire process—from selecting fresh shrimp and blending seasonings to preparing the batter and mastering the heat during frying.
Guided by Chen, students enthusiastically engaged in hands-on practice, gaining a deeper understanding of this cherished local delicacy. Many students said it was their first time learning about the intricate process behind shrimp cake making and that they were fascinated by the unique charm of Danjia food culture.
Demi Steamed Vermicelli Rolls, a respected local brand, has long been committed to preserving and promoting the region’s culinary traditions. The restaurant plans to continue offering intangible cultural heritage workshops to support the preservation and passing on of traditional food-making skills.
