Shenzhen has been selected as the host city for the 33rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in 2026. By the end of 2025, the city had received around 450 overseas delegations, including heads of state or government, deputy leaders, and ministerial-level officials.

These milestones underscore the significant progress Shenzhen has made in supporting China’s broader diplomatic framework, said Cao Saixian, president of the Shenzhen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, at the association’s annual meeting held Friday at the BGI International Convention Center in Yantian District.
