Yantian earns national honors for AI myopia tool and parasitic disease expertise

Two institutions from Yantian District’s health system have won national recognition for innovation and technical excellence.

At the 2025 National Simulation Innovation Application Competition held at Sichuan University, the pediatrics team from the Yantian Maternal and Child Health Hospital captured a national second prize in the medical technology category.

Their project, titled “Mobile simulation and AI-based childhood myopia risk prediction system,” was praised for its strong technical foundation and its potential to advance early vision screening and preventive care for children.

At the 2025 National Parasitic and Endemic Disease Prevention Skills Competition in Kunming, Yunnan, Luo Shili of the Yantian District Center for Disease Control and Prevention represented Guangdong Province with distinction.

Luo won a national second prize in the individual theoretical knowledge contest and a third prize in the individual comprehensive contest, while contributing to Guangdong’s third-place finish in the team competition.
