Yantian District has been named a national 'Two Mountains' (Lucid waters and lush mountains are gold and silver mountains) practice innovation base by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, joining three other Guangdong regions on the latest list.

The designation adds a national-level accolade to Yantian’s growing record in ecological civilization efforts.

Yantian has built on earlier recognitions — from South China’s first national ecological zone to inclusion among the U.N.’s inaugural SUC international sustainable-development demonstration zones. 

The district’s ecological strategy aligns with broader aims to position Yantian as a core area of a global ocean center city and a hub for Shatoujiao Shenzhen–Hong Kong cross-border cooperation.

Green and low-carbon practices have been mainstreamed across the economy and daily life. To meet dual-carbon targets, Yantian has launched a pilot low-carbon demonstration system covering parks, scenic areas and communities to drive coordinated decarbonization and sustainable growth.
