During the past winter vacation, Yangang Community in Yantian District organized custody services for children whose parents were working full-time.
The public benefit program, designed to provide better care for children from migrant worker families, was well received by both parents and the college students who volunteered their time.

Fifteen local university students, home for the holidays, worked under the guidance of professional social workers to provide nearly 400 sessions of custody services over 18 days to children in the community.
As the new semester begins, many parents have noticed positive changes in their children who attended the winter vacation custody class. They are more eager to share their experiences and more proactive in completing their homework.

A college student also expressed appreciation for the program. "It helps me better understand the real needs of the community and the basics of social governance," he said.
"We realized that the custody service addresses the needs of both parents and children, and we plan to continue offering it during the summer vacation," said a community representative.
For the upcoming summer vacation, the community plans to focus on homework tutoring while offering experiential learning in a bilingual environment. They also plan to introduce music and sports lessons, as well as basic finance lectures, for this winter.
To help families bond, the community is arranging tours in April and May to the freshwater supply base in Dongguan, where children can learn about environmental protection.

In addition, they will offer a drone course to spark young people's interest in science and technology.
