A nursery that cares for children aged 6-36 months in Yantian recently received an AI upgrade to its comprehensive care system, pointing to a future where intelligent IoT systems cater to the individual needs of children in daycare centers.
The YoKid Nursery, built by Yantian District People’s Hospital (YDPH) and managed by Beijing-based childcare chain brand YoKid, began operating in July last year.

Today's young parents — especially those born after 1990 — pursue individualized care for their children, prompting childcare centers to seek technological support.
The YoKid-AI system offers not just safety monitoring but also well-rounded developmental support based on data collection and analysis.
With support from the hospital, a dynamic health record is kept for every infant and toddler enrolled at the center. Using smart wearable devices, morning check-up robots, and intelligent mattresses, data on body temperature, heart rate, sleep, and food intake are collected in real time.
The system then generates personalized health reports, providing parents with science-based childcare guidance.

“In the past, when a teacher said ‘the child is not in a good mood today,’ it was based on observation and experience,” the nursery’s director said.
“Now, the YoKid system provides us with data to better understand children by analyzing their social engagement, attention span, play preferences, and emotional tendencies.”
Incorporating the “Flourishing Model” — a holistic approach to promoting children’s well-being — the center strives to build positive emotions, foster relationships, and help children experience a sense of meaning and accomplishment in their upbringing.
The AI language analysis system collects and analyzes children’s language capabilities during daily interactions and tracks their development. The smart wristband records real-time data during physical activities, ensuring they get enough exercise without becoming overtired.

The nursery also uploads children’s data to a platform so that parents can review it and receive parenting guidance.
Open to the children of YDPH doctors as well as nearby residents, the nursery charges a monthly fee in line with public childcare service standards.
