More than 300 hiking enthusiasts from Hong Kong embarked on a 14-kilometer journey at Yantian Shuangyong Park on Sunday morning, despite the drizzling spring rain. They relished the experience of mountain climbing while surrounded by the stunning mountain and sea views of Yantian District.

Chow Kwok-keung, chairman of the Hong Kong Hiking Association, expressed his admiration for the construction of the 200-kilometer Kunpeng Trail, which spans the east and west of Shenzhen.

“I believe more Hong Kong residents will come to Shenzhen for weekend adventures in the future,” he said.

Organized by the Shenzhen Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association, the event aims to promote exchanges between outdoor sports enthusiasts in Shenzhen and Hong Kong and to help Hong Kong residents better understand Shenzhen’s outdoor resources.

The event also marked the conclusion of a series of nine hiking events in Yantian that commenced Feb. 13. These events attracted more than 1,000 Hong Kong residents to attend.

Linking the Fenghuang Mountain in the west and Qiniang Mountain in the east, the Kunpeng Trail is divided into 20 segments. It connects more than 10 main peaks, 17 natural suburban parks, eight large lakes and reservoirs, 10 historic and cultural sites, 35 urban scenic spots, and nine key urban areas.
