Yantian port named Asia's best container terminal

From: Shenzhen Daily | Updated:2025-09-10

Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) has won the Best Container Terminal – Asia (Over 4 million TEUs) award at the 2025 Asian Freight, Logistics, and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards in Hong Kong for the third time, following wins in 2018 and 2023.

One of the world’s largest container terminals, YICT handled more than 15 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2024.

The terminal operates 20 deep-water berths and benefits from an 18-meter-deep natural channel within the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), enabling it to manage roughly one-third of Guangdong’s foreign trade container traffic, according to general manager Cen Qicheng.

YICT’s extensive service network includes about 100 weekly sailings, with an average of 10 departures per day to Europe and North America — the highest frequency in the GBA.

As the last port of call in South China, the terminal helps minimize transit times to key markets — around 11 days to Australia and approximately 12.5 days to the West Coast of the U.S.

The terminal also offers one of China’s most comprehensive and green intermodal solutions, integrating rail and feeder services. With 17 feeder services, 33 rail‑sea connections, and 20 inland ports, YICT provides stable and efficient links that connect the GBA as well as southwestern and central China to global markets.

The AFLAS Awards, hosted annually by Asia Cargo News, honor excellence across the logistics sector — from carriers and terminals to 3PLs and airports — recognizing leadership, innovation, service, and reliability based on votes from international freight and logistics professionals.
