In recent years, Yantian District has been progressively integrating AI into school campuses, reshaping teaching methods, enhancing teaching staff capabilities, and innovating curricula.
The district started upgrading its digital infrastructure as early as 2017, implementing a district-wide school management system.
“Since 2020, we have been merging AI technology with education to develop a student-centered, exploration-driven, and data-informed teaching model,” said an official from the district education bureau.

To date, Yantian has established four mixed-reality (MR) interactive labs and facilitates resource sharing across all schools through a cloud platform that integrates intelligent school systems and AI assistants.
The district has also fostered partnerships between schools and companies. For example, Peng Cheng Laboratory has designed an AI education model for local schools, BGI Genomics has set up a bioscience lab for student use, and Malong Tech has developed physics and chemistry lab equipment for local schools.
Yantian has created four AI-enhanced curriculum series covering liberal arts, project design, interdisciplinary studies, and vocational applications. Additionally, the district has developed 52 district-level AI courses for students ranging from primary to senior high school.

In 2022, Yantian’s hands-on, innovation-focused science education model was the only one in Shenzhen selected as one of 20 national exemplars.
AI is also utilized in physical education, where systems track student performance in real time and provide feedback for improvement. Moreover, AI is widely used to collect learning data and generate reports, helping teachers adjust pacing and methods to better support students.
The district-level intelligent platform also enables teachers from different schools to collaborate on lesson preparation and instruction more efficiently.
Over the past five years, students in Yantian, supported by AI-enhanced teaching, have won more than 160 national awards from the Ministry of Education, along with numerous prizes in national AI challenges and robotics competitions.
