From the misty peaks of Mount Wutong to the azure waters of Dameisha and Xiaomeisha, and the meandering coastline, Yantian District is a canvas of natural beauty. Last year, authorities curated over 70 sketching events, transforming the district’s picturesque outdoors into open-air art studios. More than 80,000 creators and passers-by took part, capturing the scenery on their canvases.

Beginning Jan. 18, 2025, various groups — from students and kindergarten children to white-collar workers — have gathered each Saturday along the boardwalk in and around Yantian Central Park to paint. Local landmarks like the Lighthouse Library, the impressive stacks of containers at Yantian Port, and the historic Pagoda Park on Zhongying Street have become focal points for artists.
