From: Shenzhen Daily | Updated:2026-08-19

The Yantian Global Film & Television Base — a concept that positions the entire district as a vast film and television studio — was officially launched at a ceremony held at the DBH Conference Center on Aug. 8. A sharing session on how future technologies can empower the development of the film and television industry took place on the same day.

At the event, seven film and television productions signed agreements to settle in Yantian, including "Earth Cannon" (a virtual reality film adapted from Liu Cixin’s sci‑fi novel of the same name), "Yang Jian: The Third Eye" (a 3D animated film inspired by a Chinese legend), and "10,000 Miles Back Home" (an epic tale of two Teochew families migrating overseas and eventually returning to China).

Leveraging Yantian’s mountainous and coastal scenery, urban streetscapes, and port views, the base has also attracted companies with expertise in cutting‑edge technologies such as digital twins, virtual production, and AI computing, thereby fostering a comprehensive film and television industrial ecosystem.

During the launch ceremony, the Shenzhen Film & Television Industry Service Center — an officially authorized one‑stop service provider for film productions — established a sub‑venue in Yantian. Drawing on the base’s 116 real‑life filming locations and its standardized digital scene database, the center will offer domestic and international productions a range of services, including venue registration, schedule coordination, resource matching, procedural assistance, and on‑site support. This will streamline the creative process for projects based in Yantian and help reduce costs.

Meanwhile, 13 leading film and television companies signed strategic cooperation agreements and officially established operations in the base. They will collaborate in five core areas: joint IP development, cross‑border co‑production, large‑space filmmaking, commercial operations of derivatives, and film talent incubation.
